Trying to decide what to do this summer?
Interested in flying and want to learn more?
Welcome to Summer Wings, a week-long camp for high school students interested in learning more about collegiate flight training!
The camp opens on Sunday afternoon with a tour of the SIU Carbondale campus, a pizza party and activities at the Recreation Center. On Monday morning, class is in session! Our week is spent in aircraft and simulators, in ground school classes and with guest speakers. You'll be introduced to a broad range of topics on a very basic level, including:
- weight and balance computations
- aircraft performance
- radio communications
- decoding weather reports and charts
- aircraft systems
- and more!
The 2019 Summer Wings camp dates will be announced in early 2019. Online registration will be available at that time.
Specific questions regarding the camp programming may be addressed to Lorelei Ruiz in the Department of Aviation Management and Flight at email@example.com. Questions regarding registration should be directed to Sarah Vanvooren In Conference and Scheduling Services at 618-536-7751.
