Aviation Flight

The Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) can be completed in two academic years plus one summer semester at SIU or in combination with community college or other acceptable extra-instructional education experience. The 21 credit hours of flight courses must be taken at SIU. Credit may be granted for a Private Pilot certificate earned prior to enrollment at SIU.

  • FAA approved FAR part 141 curriculum
  • 2 year Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.)
  • FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with multi-engine and instrument ratings
  • FAA Flight Instructor certificate1
  • Practical experience in a corporate flight environment through the SIU Executive Air Transportation program
  • SIU is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to certify its graduates for an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with reduced aeronautical minimums.  The Aviation Flight program is one of two SIU programs included in this approval.
